Comparison of the effectiveness of inductive, exploratory, cooperative, synectics and traditional instruction on students' creativity

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Proper teaching method is one of the most important foundations of
quality education. Many educational psychologists and educators believe that the learning situation
should be organized in such a way that each student acts according to his or her ability. The aim of
this study was to compare the effectiveness of inductive, exploratory, cooperative, synectics and
traditional education on students' creativity.
Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental study with using a pretest-posttest design
with experimental and control groups. The statistical population of the present study included all
sixth grade elementary students in Saravan in the year 2021-2022. From the Statistical population,
100 students in 5 classrooms were selected as experimental groups and control groups by simple
random method. The experimental groups were trained for 12 sessions. The Torrance Form (b)
Creativity Test was taken from all groups in the pre-test and post-test stages. The Analysis of
covariance Test was used to analyze the data.
Findings: The results showed that in the post-test stage, inductive, exploratory, cooperative and
novel methods compared to the traditional method cultivate students' creativity, but in the pair
comparison, no difference was observed between the methods.
Conclusion: Effective implementation of curricula and training requires the provision of platforms
and the use of appropriate tools. Each teaching method is like a double-edged sword that is suitable
for some purposes and unsuitable for others.
